Man injured after shots fired at Calgary mall

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — One person suffered serious injuries after shots were fired at CrossIron Mills mall in Balzac, just north of the Calgary.
EMS confirms the man is now in stable condition.
A witness saw a victim in the Milestones restaurant with what appeared to be a gunshot wound in his back. He was rushed out by paramedics and taken to hospital.
There is a very heavy police presence in the area with tactical unit members are on scene with assault rifles along with the K9 unit.
There is a large area of the parking lot taped off.

Store employees inside the mall reported on social media that they were hiding during the lockdown.
Kendall was in the parking lot when he saw a crowd of people running out of the mall.
“I was in the parking lot and I heard gunfire and I saw all kinds of people running out of the mall, I was parked right by the movie theatres,” he described.
He estimates that there are 20 to 30 police vehicles at the scene with two helicopters in the sky.
“It’s a little traumatic to see all the people crying and screaming everywhere,” he said.
On Facebook, people are reporting that the building was evacuated.

No one is being allowed to leave or enter the area at this time.
Both RCMP and Calgary police are investigating.
