Four new streaming networks face off with Netflix, Amazon Prime this fall

How many video streaming services is too many?

We’re about to find out, as no less than four new streaming networks are set to battle with Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The latest to jump into the streaming wars is NBC, calling their service Peacock — a nod to the network’s logo. The service will launch next spring with a library of 15,000 hours of content, including ‘Saved By the Bell’, and ‘Punky Brewster’.

NBC also bought the rights to ‘The Office’, pulling that away from Netflix, as well as ‘Parks and Recreation’ and ‘30 Rock.’

Netflix, the original empire, struck back with this week’s deal for more than a half-a-billion dollars. It is expected to spend up to $15 billion this year on programming.

HBO is also debuting with its streaming venture Max with two huge properties — ‘Friends’ and ‘The Big Bang Theory.’ The estimated cost of the rights for those shows, combined, is about $1 billion.

Coming up in early November, we will have the launch of both Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus.
