Mediator appointed to handle talks between B.C., 9-1-1 operators

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The B.C. Labour Relations Board has appointed a mediator to handle talks between E-Comm, the company that coordinates emergency communications across much of the province, and its emergency dispatchers and call-takers.

Trevor Sones will step into the negotiations during a session set for later in September.

More than 500 dispatchers, call-takers and support staff, all members of CUPE Local 873-02, have been without a contract at E-Comm
since last December.

The union says 13 bargaining sessions have been held since then, but there has been little progress on issues including wages and working conditions.
