BC Place to light up red for blood cancer awareness

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A downtown Vancouver building will be glowing red on Thursday night for blood cancer awareness.

Ryan O’Quinn with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society says he hopes the glow of BC Place will get people talking.

“We’re shedding light on the darkness of blood cancers. We want to raise awareness that this is happening in our communities, and we also want to raise awareness that there are resources for people who need them,” O’Quinn says.

September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month, and he says it’s important to acknowledge the impact of the disease.

“In honour of the over 130,000 Canadians that are currently living with a type of blood cancer.”

BC Place will be lit up with red lights at sunset on Sept. 19.
