OTTAWA — Some cooked diced chicken meat that was marketed under a number of brand names is being recalled due to possible Listeria contamination.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the chicken was sold across the country by Tip Top Poultry Inc., Reuven International Ltd., Sysco and AlimPlus Inc.
It came in 4, 4.54 and 13.64 kilogram packages, all with the same pack date of July 29, 2019.
Anyone who has the chicken is advised to either throw it out or return it to the place of purchase.
There have been no reports of illness linked to the product.
“Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, the infection can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn or even stillbirth. In severe cases of illness, people may die,” says the recall warning.
This is the complete list provided by the agency on Sept. 27.
