NORTH SHORE (NEWS 1130) — After a black bear chased three mountain bikers for a kilometer down a steep trail Tuesday, people are being asked to stay away from the area.

The North Shore Mountain Bike Association says riders should avoid the western flank of Mount Seymour off the Hyannis access.

It includes many of the most popular trails on the North Shore, and is also a popular hiking area.

The trail groups says the bear needs “needs some space during this pre-winter period if he’s going to survive his biggest threat; humans.”
