Police: Man arrested in Alaska death after videos found

Police in Anchorage, Alaska, say a man is in custody following the discovery of a data card that contained videos that appeared to show an assault and killing of a woman.

Police, in a release, say they believe human remains found along a highway earlier this month are those of the woman. Detectives and the medical examiner’s office were working to confirm the woman’s identity and manner of death.

Police say a caller last week reported finding on a city street a data card containing video of a killing.

Police say they obtained a warrant for the arrest of 48-year-old Brian Steven Smith on a murder charge and arrested him Tuesday at an Anchorage airport.

Court records did not list an attorney for Smith.
