VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – BC’s Police watch-dog is looking to speak to witnesses after a man was tasered near Jack Poole Plaza on Sunday.
According to the Independent Investigations Office, police had been called after reports of a man who spat at a couple, then tried to touch a number of women.
When officers arrived on the scene, the man resisted arrest and police used a stun gun to subdue him.
However, the taser ignited a flammable item the suspect was carrying.

The man was left with serious but non-life threatening injuries and had to be taken to hospital.
The IIO will now look if the actions of police played a role into the man’s injuries.
