Barack Obama endorses Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau

OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) – Former U.S. President Barack Obama has thrown his support behind Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, less than a week before Canadians cast their ballots in the federal election.

In a tweet, Obama says he was proud to work with him while he was in office.

“He’s a hard-working, effective leader who takes on big issues like climate change. The world needs his progressive leadership now, and I hope our neighbours to the north support him for another term.”

It’s the latest celebrity endorsement to come out for Trudeau, with Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri recently throwing support behind the Liberal Leader.

“I continue to support Prime Minister Trudeau now, and when he is Prime Minister again,” Ujiri said in a video posted on Trudeau’s Facebook page on Sunday.
