Local women’s clothing chain Plum closing doors after 40 years

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The owners of local women’s clothing chain Plum are shutting up shop for good, after a nearly forty-year run.

Kate O’Brien and Ed Des Roches are retiring, which will result in the closures of their stores in the region.

That includes locations in Vancouver and the North Shore.

At one point the chain had nine locations and according to a posting on the Plum website, employed nearly two thousand people over its years of operation.

Plum first opened its doors in 1981 and started off as a single store in Kitsilano.

The clothing store spent forty years as an independent retailer and family business.

It will close its doors for good at the end of the month.
