Wine, beer on BC Ferries Vancouver-Victoria route starts tomorrow

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – For those of you waiting to have a drink with your meal on your ferry ride between Vancouver and Victoria, you can do so as of Thursday.

Three ferries serving the Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay Route will allow you to to purchase one alcoholic beverage with your meal in the Pacific Buffet restaurant.

Astrid Braunschmidt with BC Ferries says it’s something people have been asking for.

“We have heard from many of our passengers that they would like to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine with their meal while they are on-board, so in response to these requests, we are pleased to expand the menu in the Pacific buffet to include B.C. beer and wine,” she says.

It’s all part of a trial running for one year.

“[We] will be evaluating how things go over the next 12 months, we will be looking at employee feedback, customer feedback, and some of the numbers as well, before making any decisions about next steps,” she says.

BC Ferries already offers beer and wine for sale on some of the other northern routes.
