The other was a man in his 40s, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. Their identities have not yet been released but CBC News reports the two were father and son.
Nicole Taitinger contacted the CBC to say the 8-year-old was her son, Oscar. She said he was the youngest of three brothers and described him as a sweet boy who loved to dance.

Taitinger said other kids picked on him but he tried not to let it bother him.
She also told the network that the man was her husband, Mark, from whom she had recently separated. She told the CBC that she broke up with him earlier this summer after 25 years of marriage, and court records show a family court case was underway. It was launched in September.
One of the two deaths is being investigated as a homicide, but police say no suspects are being sought.
