Coquitlam RCMP ask for help finding sexual assault suspect, may be protected by silence

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in Coquitlam are asking for help identifying a suspect in a sexual assault that happened two months ago, and they believe he’s being protected by silence.

It was mid-August when an employee was allegedly sexually assaulted by a regular customer at the Joey’s restaurant along Lougheed Highway. Police believe other regular customers know more than they are telling investigators.

Cpl. Michael McLaughlin with Coquitlam RCMP says witness aren’t saying much.

“Those people should realize that there are very real consequences for the victim in this story. And we’re trying to make sure that this file is concluded properly,” he says.

“One thing that’s become clear is there are people who know more than they have let on. We have a strong belief that there are people who can identify the suspect who goes by ‘Jordan’ and it’s really important to conclude this investigation with talking to that person.”

The victim is still psychologically and physically shaken.

Suspect’s description:

  • Caucasian or mixed-ethnicity who goes by ‘Jordan’
  • Late 20s to early 30s
  • Around 5-foot-10
  • Medium, stocky build with strong hands
  • Flared nostrils and full lips
  • Short, light brown hair shaved on sides
  • Snap-back baseball hat worn low
  • Puffy jacket and red ‘Air Jordan’-type pants
