Two teen pedestrians struck in two separate Burnaby crashes

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – Two teen pedestrians were sent to hospital Wednesday morning after being struck by vehicles in two different locations in Burnaby, both around 7 a.m..

An 18-year-old man has serious, life-threatening injuries after he was hit near 10th Avenue and 18th Street near the New Westminster-Burnaby border. Burnaby RCMP says it seems he wasn’t using the crosswalk at the time.

A second person – a 19-year-old woman – was hit by a vehicle turning left from Government Street as she was crossing Manchester Drive. She was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. In this case, the driver got a ticket for failing to signal for a left turn.

Burnaby RCMP is asking anyone who may have seen what happened on 10th and 18th, or who has dashcam footage, to call 604-646-9999 or contact Crime Stoppers.

10th Avenue is expected to stay closed into the afternoon as police investigate. Expect traffic on 18th Street to be slow in that area.
