This weekend could be the last time British Columbia ‘falls back’

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – There are more car crashes and it can make us sick. Daylight Saving Time will still come to an end this weekend, but this could be the last year British Columbians have to fall back.

Just that one hour change in time can have a lot of serious health consequences, and as it gets darker earlier, that can mean a more dangerous commute home.

The time change also isn’t great for parents of small kids who will likely lose sleep as their routines are thrown out of wack.

The biggest pro seems to be a little extra sleep.

Scholars have been pushing for an end to the practice for years and that could soon happen as B.C. has tabled legislation to stop the time change.

But Premier John Horgan says we’d have to make sure our friends and trading partners in Washington, Oregon and California do the same.

A recent poll in the U.S. found most Americans also want the twice-a-year practice to end.

Clocks fall back early Sunday morning.
