Langley RCMP searching for senior who has dementia

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue and Langley RCMP are looking for a missing senior who has dementia.

80-year-old Lorne Herron was last seen Friday night at the Fort Langley care home he had moved to a week ago.

It’s believed he wandered away and may be trying to get to Abbotsford, where he lived before.

“The staff at his residence checked on him and he was in his room and then they checked a couple hour later and he was no longer there,” Langley RCMP Corporal Craig van Herk says.

“We’ve engaged Search and Rescue and we’ve been with all our resources through the night and so far have not been able to locate Mr. Herron.”

Van Herk says, Lorne Herron was last seen around 7:00 p.m. yesterday at a care home he had moved into a week ago.

It’s believed Herron wandered away and may be trying to get to Abbotsford, where he lived before.

Police say since he does not have a car, he may be asking strangers for help in getting to Abbotsford.

Herron is described as a Caucasian man, 6’2 tall and approximately 170 pounds. He has grey hair, blue eyes and is believed to be wearing a grey coat with a light hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Langley RCMP are asking the public for help to assist locating Herron.
