Port Moody-Coquitlam riding election recount begins today

PORT MOODY (NEWS 1130) – A recount is underway for the riding of Port Moody–Coquitlam following last month’s federal election.

The recount will run for three or four days, and then Elections Canada will put out the final results.

NDP candidate Bonita Zarrillo was granted a recount after narrowly losing to Conservative Nelly Shin by just 153 votes on election night. Initially, she was thought to have won by 353 votes.

Recounts only happen when the votes between the winner and the runner-up are separated by 0.1 per cent of the total.
