Three poppy boxes stolen from Langley coffee shop within one week

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – The owner of a coffee shop in Langley says he’s sick to his stomach, after he says three poppy donation boxes were stolen in less than a week.

Ron Corrado is the owner of ‘Joy of Coffee’ in Murrayville and says the first theft happened Sunday where someone walked off with two boxes and another was stolen Thursday.

He says it’s the first time he’s seen this happen in his 24 years of business.

“Never had a poppy box stolen, we’ve had other cancer donations boxes stolen, but never a poppy box and we’ve had them every year,” Corrago says.

Corrado calls the thieves ‘scumbags’, and hopes they are brought to justice soon.

The Langley RCMP says it’s identified two suspects and the investigation continues.
