Vancouver opens more homeless shelters due to wet weather

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Wet weather in the Lower Mainland is prompting the City of Vancouver to open up additional shelter spaces Saturday and Sunday.

With an extreme weather warning in effect, and rain expected in the region, nearly 100 spaces will be available for the homeless.

These include mats at four different sites in the city, with some spaces prioritized for women and youth.

Those who are in need of shelter Nov. 16 and 17 can dial 2-1-1 for availability.
