Unsung Hero: Mother of son lost to addiction gives back through outreach, education

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – Congratulations to Michelle Jansen of Coquitlam, the winner of the Unsung Hero contest for the week of Nov. 18. She was nominated by Kathy Daniels.

Here is Michelle’s story:

“Michelle Jansen lost her son Brandon to addiction. She and her son Nick have been going to schools educating our youth on addiction and the opioid crisis.

She has founded the Brandon Jansen Foundation and is opening recovery centers in Brandon’s name to help others battling addiction.

Michelle goes above and beyond to help others to free themselves from this disease.

I believe with her dedication and persistence that she is so deserving of this award.”

Alpine Credits is acknowledging Michelle with $500 for her efforts. They’re also donating $1,000 to the Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation.
