SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Three people have been deported and 50 individuals have been investigated by Surrey RCMP after violent videos involving groups of young men went viral.

The most recent case was on Monday, Nov. 11 when a large group of men was filmed assaulting someone with a weapon in a Surrey parking lot.

Following the videos as well as safety concerns from business owners and residents, Superintendent Shawn Gill says RCMP sent a clear message to anyone on a visa who may be involved.

“While these incidents involving groups of youth are somewhat isolated, we are dealing with those responsible for these disturbances, and working to prevent further incidents from happening,” he says.

“We encourage residents and business owners to report these types of incidents and videos directly to police so we can work with the community to address these comprehensively.”

While not all the incidents involved international students, Mounties are reminding anyone visiting Canada on a Visa that any criminal activity may result in deportation.

The three deported individuals were sent out of the country following the investigation into the August brawl in Strawberry Hills, and three others are currently having their status reviewed.
