Homes surrounded by police tape after possible homicide, shooting in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – It’s been a busy 12 hours for police in Surrey where police are investigating a possible homicide as well as a shooting that ended with a crash.

A home in the area of 147th Street and 83rd Avenue was surrounded by police tape on Friday morning, and a silver BMW that crashed into a fence in the front lawn on Thursday night had a tarp draped over the passenger side.

One person was taken away and sent to the hospital and is expected to survive.

What led up to the crash is unknown at this time, but it does appear to be connected to a shooting that looks to have taken place at another location.

Neighbours tell NEWS 1130 they didn’t hear a thing on Thursday night,

“I just woke up and I see police tape and police cars, and it’s like, ‘Woah, what’s going on?'” one woman says.

Meantime, the RCMP and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team are at a second scene, at a home in Whalley, which was also behind police tape Friday morning.

Whether the two scenes are connected is not yet known.

The shooting came less than 24 hours after a separate incident of violence on the Lower Mainland. A man was found shot in a home in Aldergrove early Thursday morning, in what Mounties in Langley have also said appears to be a targeted incident.

There’s be no word on any possible links between the two cases.
