Police investigating attempted abduction near Kamloops

BARRIERE (NEW 1130) – Someone tried to abduct a 10-year-old girl near Kamloops Friday and now police are investigating.

It happened in the community of Barriere around 3:30 p.m., according to the RCMP.

The girl was walking on Dunn Lake Road when man came up to her and grabbed her by the wrist.

The girl managed to fight him off and ran away.

The suspect is described as about 40-years-old, around 5’7 with hazel eyes and short brown hair and a beard.

Police searched for the suspect with the help of a police dog, but were unable to find anything.

Some youth events in the area have been cancelled because of the incident, and police are warning parents to stay vigilant.
