Store manager assaulted by shoplifter in Nanaimo

NANAIMO (NEWS 1130) — The manager of a store in Nanaimo was apparently assaulted violently by a shoplifter over the weekend.
Nanaimo RCMP say the manager was smashed over the head with a shopping bag carrying bottles on Saturday.
It happened after a man allegedly left the store without paying for some merchandise, and the manager confronted him outside.
The manager was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, but it is not believed to be life-threatening.
Police are now looking for the shoplifter. He is described as white, between 35 to 40 years old, with a slim build.
