Richmond RCMP looking for witnesses after body found on Highway 99

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – Police in Richmond are looking for witnesses to a fatal hit and run that happened early Saturday morning.

Police say they found a man dead on Highway 99 near the Steveston Highway overpass just after 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 7. The man, who was in his sixties and from the Fraser Valley, appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.

The Richmond RCMP is asking anyone with dash cam footage of the area between 1:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. to come forward.

Officers are hoping someone may have information about cars stopped by the side of the road, and video of what happened or anyone walking in the area.

They say the victim appears to have been struck by a large vehicle, possibly a commercial truck, and the driver may have hit him without realizing it.
