Amber Alert cancelled for missing Alberta toddler, who is unharmed

BRULE, Alta. — The Alberta RCMP has cancelled an Amber Alert issued for a 14-month-old boy, after he was taken by his father early this morning.

RCMP say the boy was surrendered unharmed by his father, who is now in police custody.

Police just east of Jasper National Park issued an Amber Alert for the toddler on Friday, saying he was abducted by Armstrong, who was considered armed and dangerous.

The boy was taken at around 2:30 a.m. in the hamlet of Brule, which is near Hinton — a community about 100 kilometres from the B.C.-Alberta border.

At around noon, police had said the pick-up truck had been located, but they would not say whether the child and his father were inside at the time.

Police also had said the father had a long barrel rifle with him when he left the home.

The toddler and his mother were at Cody’s home when a fight broke out and the father left, police said.
