Mountain NYE celebrations called off due to weather

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — If you were planning to ring in the new year on one of the local mountains, you may want to make some new plans since the weather is stopping all celebrations.

Grouse Mountain’s Family New Year’s Eve has been called off due to heavy rain and wind. As a result, there will be no fireworks or outdoor music, although some indoor festivities will go ahead as planned.

The Family First Night at Seymour has also been cancelled because of inclement weather, and there won’t be any fireworks to welcome in the New Year at Cypress Mountain either.

Grouse and Seymour are contacting ticket holders for the events.

If your celebrations are happening around the city, remember Translink has free fares on New Year’s Eve starting from 5 p.m. and running until 5 a.m.
