TSAWWASSEN (NEWS 1130) – A New Year’s day fire in Tsawwassen has destroyed a dental office.

Fire crews were called to the building at 5405 12 Ave, next to the Tsawwassen Town Centre Mall around 4:00 a.m. The building was significantly damaged by the flames, smoke and heat.

On a Facebook post, Serenity Dental owner Dr. Crista Walker said people can contact her if they have any questions.

“I am crying as I write this… everything is gone,” the post reads. “Grateful that I purchased the old border building in Boundary Bay two weeks ago so we will have a new dental home once it is built out. My plan is to try to find temporary space until then. Super grateful to all the Firemen that helped last night and no one got hurt.”

The fire was brought under control, but there will still be traffic disruptions around the area as firefighters continue to work.

“Fortunately there have been no reported injuries,” says Cris Leykauf with Delta Police. “Police evacuated residents from several nearby homes overnight to ensure public safety and emergency social services was engaged to assist those impacted.”

People have since been allowed to return to their homes.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
