Dramatic arrest, tasering on DTES caught on video

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A dramatic arrest that saw a suspect tasered and slammed into a building in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside has been caught on camera.

Vancouver Police confirmed they responded to calls of a man threatening random people with a knife in the area of Powell Street and Jackson Avenue just before 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31.

Video taken by Youtube user ADAMGRC and posted Jan. 2, shows a man walking away from several officers, ignoring requests to get on the ground. A taser appears to be deployed, but does not stop the man, before an officer pushes him towards the side of a building, knocking him to the ground.

A number of police cruisers then swarm the area as the man is arrested. He is eventually back on his feet, with several officers surrounding him.

Police say no one was hurt and the 41-year-old man was arrested before being taken to the hospital for other pre-existing medical conditions.
