Winter weather conditions closing Highway 1 Thursday

REVELSTOKE (NEWS 1130) – If you’re heading out of town Thursday, you can expect some delays.
The Ministry of Transportation says Highway 1 will be closed east of Revelstoke between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. so crews can do avalanche control.
Robb Anderson with the Ministry of Transportation says it comes after a recent blast of snow hit the region and there could be more on the way.
“It does look like we are in for more snow over the weekend. Especially all the way from Terrace down to southern British Columbia Revelstoke, Nelson again, so going into the weekend, we can certainly see more closures because it does look like we are going to get another storm,” Anderson says.
Anderson encourages anyone travelling in the area to check traffic conditions before you leave.
