BC Ferries cancels sailings on all major routes Sunday evening due to weather

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Anyone hoping to travel to Vancouver Island by BC Ferries Sunday evening is officially out of luck.

The first wave of cancellations was announced Sunday morning.

The plan was to resume around 7 p.m. but the weather did not cooperate.

Chelsea Carlson speaks for BC Ferries and says they expect service to be back to normal Monday.

She says while sailing cancellations might be an inconvenience for customers it is vital to suspend sailings for the crews and customers’ safety.

“Our customers and our crew have value and unfortunately, we just can’t sail in these weather conditions,” she says.

All reservations made for the cancelled trips will be refunded.
