LANGLEY TOWNSHIP (NEWS 1130) – A home has been severely damaged in the Township of Langley, but three people managed to make it out to safety after flames broke out Tuesday morning.

The fire along 16 Avenue at 248 Street shut down the east-west commuter route south of the Fraser for a few hours.

While crews have contained the flames, smoke can still be seen rising from the area.

“There were three people inside the home. All three of them managed to get out safely and are uninjured — that’s the good news,” he says. “The bad news, damage to the home is extensive,” says Greg Harper.

Deputy Fire Chief Russ Jenkins says the second story of the house was completely burned through.

It’s unclear what sparked the fire, but the three occupants of the home have escaped without any serious injuries.

Township firefighters appear to have been on scene since about 5:00 a.m. with several fire trucks.

Crews shut down 16 Avenue for several hours.
