‘The Twilight Zone’ set to begin filming in Ashcroft

ASHCROFT (NEWS 1130) – A village west of Kamloops will soon be part of ‘The Twilight Zone’.

The CBS drama, normally shot in Vancouver, is headed up to Ashcroft to film some scenes for season two.

Thompson Nicola Regional District film commissioner Vikki Weller says this is good for the local economy at a time when not many tourists are passing through the area.

“What I really like is about filming at this time of year, is that this is the shoulder season for a lot of different hotels, restaurants and for sales in small towns so this gives a good boost to the economy after the Christmas rush,” she says.

The show is setting up to film in the villages downtown, but Weller couldn’t say exactly what is being filmed and adds the casting company involved is looking to hire extras to be townspeople for the filming.

“It’s a popular one, I think it will be a lot of fun. It will be interesting, let’s put it that way. It’s a tv show so hopefully, it will air in the next six months,” she says. “It’s a drama, people will be walking down the street and reacting to what’s going on. I don’t think it’s going to be the magnitude of Power Rangers, but it is going to be filmed in Ashcroft. So they’re hoping people who don’t mind driving will apply. They would like to cast local, but if people want to apply that’s good too.”

The second season of ‘The Twilight Zone’ will be released later this year.
