Pedestrian dies after weekend crash in Yaletown

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A senior who was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood over the weekend has died.

Vancouver police say the woman was using the crosswalk at Pacific and Richards Streets on Sunday just before 5:30 p.m. when she and a man — both in their 70s — were struck by a delivery van turning left.

The man is still in the hospital with serious injuries, but the woman died of her injuries.

It’s unclear if the 37-year-old driver of the van will face any charges but police say he stayed at the scene and is cooperating.

This is the first pedestrian fatality in Vancouver this year.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen what happened, or anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the crash who has dashcam footage. You can get in touch with investigators at 604.717.3012.
