Three additional victims come forward following sexual assaults in Coquitlam park

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – Another three victims have come forward to report sexual assaults in or around Glen Park in Coquitlam.

That’s according to the RCMP, who on Monday said there had been 4 incidents at the park in a little over a month, and it’s believed they are linked.

Cpl. Michael McLaughlin says the victims came forward after seeing the warning issued by RCMP earlier this week.

“Since going public about the alleged assaults in Glen Park, we’ve had three more incidents that we believe are linked to this file come forward,” he says. “Now, the reason the victims waited to come forward was they weren’t even certain that a criminal offense had occurred, but when they saw the news release and this information appearing in the media, they gave us a call.”

Mounties say these three cases happened between November, and December of last year.

“All three assaults that have been reported since we went public have been fairly historical and happened between November and December of last year,” McLaughlin says.

He also is asking for the public to remain calm during the investigation, despite the safety concerns in the area.

“We would ask people to reserve judgment, and again not take action on their own for any of the alleged assaults around Glen Park,” he says. “This is a high priority for police. And we do see some people coming to conclusions about things like motive. That must wait. We will determine that in good time. Let’s just not try and take things into our own hands, please.”

Four separate sexual assaults around Glen Park are linked, according to RCMP. Mounties are looking for a man who touches or slaps women then runs away.
