SWIFT CURRENT (NEWS 1130) – Four people from British Columbia are now facing human trafficking charges after being caught speeding through rural Saskatchewan.
Earlier this week, Mounties noticed three cars driving at a high rate of speed along the Trans-Canada Highway through Swift Current. When they pulled the drivers over, they say there were two teenage girls in the back of separate vehicles with no identification.
Despite not having any ID, both were determined to also be from B.C.
Police say the four adult suspects — three men and one woman — each face a charge of transporting a person under the age of 18 for the purpose of exploiting them, as well as other offences.
All four are from Vancouver Island and are set to make a court appearance in Swift Current Friday morning.
Mounties say support is available to anyone who may be a survivor of human trafficking or know someone else who might be. You can call the Canadian Centre to End Human Trafficking Hotline at 1.833.900.1010 or visit the website.
3/3 The Hotline Response Advocates will connect callers to support and services and will also take tips, answer questions and forward information, when appropriate, to law enforcement.
