Trump, burgers, national anthems, some of the things Super Bowl fans are betting on

Are you planning to watch the big game, but you don’t know a lot about football? Adam Stiles and Richard Southern provide the ultimate Super Bowl viewer’s guide – including the main players, the wild prop bets, and Canada’s top party foods.

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — It’s one of the most wagered-upon sporting events in the world, and the Super Bowl has some of the best-offered bets in Las Vegas.

There are serious bets by actual sports fans every Super Bowl, but it is the weird and wonderful prop bets that keep things interesting.

There are betting lines starting with who will sing the American anthem. Will Demi Lovato omit a word? Will the length of the final word “brave” be under 5.5 seconds?

When it comes to the half-time show, there seems to be a focus on cleavage — will there be any from Jenifer Lopez, Shakira, or both? Will there be any butt cleavage from J. Lo?

It doesn’t stop there.

Wagers are even coming in for Donald Trump’s tweets. Will he tweet “Latinos” after the game? And what will be higher, the San Francisco 49ers point total or the president’s total number of tweets for that day?

Bets can even be placed on whether coach Andy Reid show up with a Hawaiin shirt on. Will he eat a cheeseburger?

Or will the John 3:16 guy get his sign on T.V.?

Now, you may have heard of some Super Bowl myths. When it comes to the one about sewer systems in major U.S. cities sometimes failing during the halftime show because everyone’s flushing their toilet at the same time — sorry, that one’s been busted.

However, remember that story about Bears quarterback Jim McMahon mooning a T.V. news helicopter flying over a Chicago practice before Super Bowl XX in 1986? That one’s true, and it was not a wardrobe malfunction.
