Two-story house engufled in flames in Surrey

By

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — Dozens of firefighters were on scene fighting a large house fire in Surrey.

The area of 140th Street is shut down in both directions between 88th and 90th avenues after the second-alarm fire brought in a crew of about 25 firefighters.

Joseph Giogis was driving the work when he spotted smoke pouring into the sky.

“The fire is coming from the front and the back of the house, and it’s really a huge fire. The smoke is billowing all the way to the sky,” he tells NEWS 1130. “I can see the flames shooting from the front windows and then from the backside of the house as well.”

The assistant chief of operations at the Surrey Fire Department says no one was in the house at the time.

“There are no injuries to residents or firefighters,” says David Burn.

There’s no indication yet as to what caused the fire.
