Woman dies after being struck by cement truck in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) —  A woman in her 90s has died after being struck by a cement truck on the Downtown Eastside Thursday afternoon.

Police say the incident happened at the intersection of Powell Street and Jackson Avenue around 2:30 p.m.

“Paramedics from BC Ambulance Services attended but were unable to revive her and she was pronounced dead,” says a release from the Vancouver Police Department. “The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police. Speed and alcohol aren’t believed to be a factor.”

This is the city’s second pedestrian fatality of 2020.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to contact them at 604-717-3012.
