Hundreds evacuated from Vancouver apartment building after gasoline odour detected

By

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — The smell of gasoline forced a mass evacuation in Vancouver’s West End Saturday evening.

Roughly 200 people were forced out of their apartments on Broughton Street for about two hours after someone smelled what they believed to be gas, and then pulled the fire alarm.

The Vancouver Fire Department says the smell originated in the building’s carport and was from gasoline and not natural gas.

No one was injured.
