A Research Co poll finds majority of people say we should launch a bid to host the Summer Olympics

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Ten years after Vancouver hosted the Winter Olympics, most people are looking back on it fondly.

A poll from Research Co. says 68 per cent of British Columbians think hosting was worth it, and it had a good impact on the city.

And 74 per cent also say it had a positive influence on Canada as a whole.

According to the poll, 4 in 5 people say they’re happy with infrastructure that came with the games, like the Canada Line and improvements to the Sea to Sky.

“Majorities of residents in all five regions of the province say organizing the games was worth it,” Mario Canseco, from Research Co., says.

As for whether Vancouver should launch a bid to host the Summer Olympics, 62 per cent of people say we should go for it.
