Donations pour in for family of 2-year-old girl killed in Squamish parking lot

SQUAMISH (NEWS 1130) — A two-year-old girl died tragically Friday evening after being hit by a car in a grocery store parking lot and now a fundraiser has been set up to help her grieving family.

The GoFundMe page was created by members of the close-knit community.

“We are a group of friends seeking to raise funds to help support the family and cover the expenses of a funeral as well as lost wages,” the page says.

“100 per cent of the funds raised will be given over directly to the family. Any contribution is greatly welcomed.”

The original goal was $10,000 but by Saturday evening almost $14,000 had been raised.

“This tragedy broke our hearts on Friday, as we drove by in our weekly commute to Whistler. My partner and I are sending our love to the family and everyone who was touched by the little girl’s light,” writes one donor.

“My heart breaks for the family and all involved. Our sincere condolences,” writes another.
