Buses, trains disinfected regularly, COVID-19 risks low: TransLink

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Coast Mountain Bus Company and BC Rapid Transit Company disinfect buses and trains regularly and have not been told by Provincial Health Services to make any operational changes regarding the spread of COVID-19, says TransLink.

The transit authority adds the Provincial Health Services says the risk to customers and staff of contracting coronavirus is low, and that it’s working closely with the health authority to monitor the situation.

TransLink reiterates that health experts say the best ways to avoid contracting or spreading a contagious illness are staying home if you’re sick, coughing and sneezing into tissues, and washing your hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and water.

As for COVID-19, Canada’s number of cases is at 27 after three new cases of the virus in Ontario were announced Monday.

However, the risk of the virus spreading in Canada remains low.

With a total of 88,000 cases, COVID-19 has now hit every continent except Antarctica.
