VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — With mounting concerns amid the COVID-19 outbreak, many people around Metro Vancouver are stockpiling goods leading to empty shelves and crowded checkouts.
When it comes to hoard-type shopping, B.C. Premier John Horgan encouraged people to be mindful of their purchases.
“People should be measured in their responses, and they should make sure they’re prepared. But let’s not be ridiculous about this,” he said. “Let’s be thoughtful and reflect on the consequences of us buying everything. What does that mean for the next person in line that desperately needs that product.”
However, people have still been stocking up around the Lower Mainland.

Grandview Superstore an hour ago. Gf sent me this. Looks like I’ll survive the apocalypse since no one seems to be buying Charmin. Costco Still Creek was sold out of toilet paper earlier today. The madness continues… @jarmstrongbc @NEWS1130 @BC1 pic.twitter.com/gx8s47Wmto

This is normal though dude. Safeway is the same. I’m all for shaming the madness. I do it myself. But I strongly disagree with how you are presenting this. There is always an initial rush. This was Costco at opening on March 2nd. Still normal! pic.twitter.com/duovNIMuma
