U.S. suspending travel from the U.K. and Ireland

WASHINGTON (NEWS 1130) — The White House has announced that the United States will broaden its European travel ban starting Monday at midnight.

According to Vice President Mike Pence, travel from the U.K. and Ireland to the U.S. will soon come to a halt.

“All of our health experts presented information and made a unanimous recommendation to the president that we suspend all travel to the U.K. and Ireland,” he says.

Under the restrictions, American citizens, green card holders and others are still allowed to return to the U.S.

Americans will also be funneled to 13 airports and be subjected to health screenings and quarantine orders.

Meantime, President Donald Trump says he has been tested for COVID-19 and the results are expected in the next day or two.

He says his temperature was taken Saturday morning, and he was “completely fine.”

Trump says while he’s been told not to shake hands with others as to reduce the risk, it’s “a habit” he’s having a hard time stopping.

Trump also says he’s always taken the virus seriously, adding, “We will all get through this together.”
