BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — Transit Police have arrested a woman who had 10 outstanding warrants after she tried to catch a free ride on the SkyTrain.
Sgt. Clint Hampton with Metro Vancouver Transit Police tells NEWS 1130 a 37-year-old woman followed another transit user through fare gates at Edmonds Station Saturday just before 6:00 p.m.
“So [Transit Police] stopped her. It is a provincial violation,” he says. “It’s $173 fine for following [someone] through the fare gates.”

The woman’s warrants are mostly for thefts and possession for stolen property in Abbotsford.
The woman is now in custody in Burnaby for the outstanding warrants.
Hampton adds while every year Transit Police see an increase of warrant arrests being made, this woman’s case is unique.
“It’s not uncommon to make warrant arrests, but it is uncommon for us to see these kinds of numbers where you have one person who has 10 outstanding warrants.”
