Langley Township childcare under coronavirus chopping block

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) — Parents in Langley Township are going to have to find alternate ways to take care of their kids for the time being if they use municipal care.

As of Tuesday, Langley Township has announced it is suspending all of its childcare services and spring break day camps.

“We are dealing with an unprecedented situation that is impacting us all, and the health and safety of our residents and staff is of the utmost importance,” Township of Langley Mayor Jack Froese says. “How we respond in the days and weeks ahead, both individually and as a community, will be important.”

The announcement comes on the heels of Langley Township shutting down all of its rec centers, pools and other public facilities the day before.

The City of Abbotsford, Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, White Rock, Port Moody and Port Coquitlam and Surrey have all closed or limiting access to recreation centres and non-essential facilities.
