GoFundMe launched to help nurses at Lynn Valley Care Centre

NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – An online fundraiser has been launched to help nurses and staff at the Lynn Valley Care Centre.

The care home has been the centre of the coronavirus outbreak here in B.C, and has led to dozens of infections and several deaths.

More than 40 nurses across the Lower Mainland have stepped in and volunteered to provide extra help at the centre.

Now the Gofund me campaign launched online is hoping to raise enough money to purchase a large amount of face masks for staff.

The campaign was started by David Wong, a pharmacist in Vancouver.

He says the right thing to do is to help the most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is the hardest hit area in BC with most of the deaths,” he writes. “We hope by providing these nurses the masks they have requested, they are able to offer immediate care for the seniors at Lynn Valley Care Centre.”

The goal is to raise eight thousand dollars to purchase more than two thousand N95 masks.
