VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — The Canadian Tax Payer Federation is applauding a move from B.C. politicians, who have decided to postpone a pay raise for about a year.

MLAs were set to get about $2,500 more per year, starting Wednesday.

Kris Sims, with the CTF, says the federation was pleased to see the vote the Legislative Assemble management community all vote in favour Tuesday.

“We want to give every single one of them credit. This is the right thing to do. And we’re really happy to see it,” she tells NEWS 1130.

The federation is now calling on Ottawa to follow BC’s lead, and postpone their pay raises.

“Federal Members of Parliament in Ottawa are still set to get a pay hike [Wednesday], with a handful of MPs committing to donate their raises to local charities,” a release reads.

“The Taxpayers Federation is asking for federal MPs in Ottawa to also cancel their scheduled pay raises.”
