All 35 speed cameras set up in B.C., see where they are

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — It’s not a pilot program anymore — all 35 of the province’s previously announced speed cameras are now set up in select busy intersections, mostly in the Lower Mainland.

The cameras are able to detect how fast vehicles are moving through intersections on red, yellow, and green lights.

Since the program kicked in last summer, more than 20,000 speeding tickets have been issued, including against one driver going 174-kilometres-an-hour in an 80-km zone.

The cameras won’t be hard to spot though since each will have prominent warning signs.

While 34 of the cameras are operational, the last one in Nanaimo won’t be turned on until Septemeber to give drivers time to adjust to a lower speed limit.
